An ancient tree and one of the oldest thriving beings on Earth, Cedar recalls ancient forests and invokes their wisdom and protection. The fresh, woodsy smell of a burning Cedar smudge works wonderfully to cleanse a new home of its old energies and unwanted spirits while inviting fresh, energetic vibes and protecting the new occupant from undesirable influences.
 
Cedar is used as a name for a number of different genera of trees and shrubs. The primary ones are Cedrus, Thuja, Libdocedrus, and Juniperus. Keep in mind that these scientific names have little meaning to the people using them as medicine in traditional ways. And be aware that many businesses often have Juniper smudges mislabeled as Cedar. Junipers are not truly Cedars (scientifically,) but are used as such by many individuals.
